The Duke and Duchess of Sussex purchased 100 handmade woolen hats from Make Give Live New Zealand.
The woolen hats were for Kiwi children in need on behalf of their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
Purpose
Duke Harry and Duchess Meghan want their purchase to help keep knitting groups together.
Make Give Live, aims to tackle isolation and mental illness by bringing people together to knit and crochet hats and other items. One of which is then donated to charity for each item sold. The charity model appeals to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex because of their commitment to mental health advocacy. The community provides a place where people can talk, connect, and support each other.
Impact of Archie’s Gift
Make Give Live operates on a buy one, give one model, this will allow the group to make an extra 200 hats to distribute to families in need next winter through the various charities it supports.
In 2019 The image of Prince Harry and son, taken in chilly Canada, inspired thousands of beanie orders from across the world. The social enterprise purchased all the wool that their supplier had available, which was about 400 balls, or around 600 beanies’ worth.
The Coco bear beanie Archie Harrison wore sold out after his picture went viral.
In 2020 Make Give Live donated over 3500 hats to people in need. Revenue had grown more than 1000% compared to 2019.
Before he was born Archie was already making a global impact through the #GlobalSussexBabyShower. Archie’s generosity and kindness are unparalleled.

Impact of Archie’s Giving
Archie Harrison donated 5,000 to Love the Oceans Conservation. Building a lifesaving swimming pool in Guinjata Bay, Mozambique. The goal was to teach young children to swim and save lives from drowning making the community better.
Meghan and Harry are global impact investors. Impact investments are investments made with the intention to generate positive, measurable social and environmental impact alongside a financial return.
#SussexGreatForest
The Sussex squad planted 115,000 for King Archie’s birthday. Talk about having global influence. Since the launch of #ArchieDay, by the community of leaders in the #Sussexsquad more than $50,000 have been raised for charities such as the South African–based organization Nourish, the Boys and Girls Club of Canada, Children’s Aid in the States, as well as Well Child, one of Harry’s patronages.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex matched the Sussex squad donation of $130,000 totaling over $260,000 to Camfed. The purpose of the donation was to educate young women in higher education.Archie’s life has brought so much joy to the world. Leaders teach what they know, and they reproduce who they are. It was heartwarming to hear Archie articulating the words, so sweet of his dear parents teaching him, encouraging to be kind & compassionate.
I still go back to listen to the podcast and to hear that cute little voice. He will be taking on the beliefs, the causes and the many projects that his parents believe in. He will be a global, kind hearted, thoughtful, compassionate young man.
