During the Remembrance services in 2019 Prince Harry met Pte Hammond from Ghana who fought during WWII in the Commonwealth army. As a fellow soldier not just one who plays dress up like some other royals there was mutual respect between the two. Both Prince Harry and Pte. Hammond are real soldiers who had been in combat; they bonded over their shared experiences on the frontline.
Pte Hammond made an impression on the Duke of Sussex who wrote to him after hearing of the soldier’s effort to raise funds for COVID workers across Africa. Upon receiving the letter the veteran was touched by the recognition from the British Prince. The Duke of Sussex used his global voice to amplify Pte. Hammond’s cause. Pte Hammond was thankful for the recognition.
In return the veteran blessed the son of Prince Harry ARCHIE. When Archie grows up he will see how he has been blessed by Africa. Archie will grow up to understand why his father and mother love Africa. Archie will grow up and understand cultural legacy of Ubuntu. In South Africa Archie was named “Ntsika” a pillar in society. Pte Drummond named Archie Kodjo because he was born on Monday. Kodjo means ‘loyal’, dependable and trustworthy.
Archie Harrison’s grandmother looks like people in most of the 54 nations of the Commonwealth. Her presence in Archie’s life is a very powerful symbol. Archie will grow up to understand that his mother’s people blessed him and contrast it to the treatment from Britain. In Archie people of the Commonwealth see themselves. Prince Harry’s very first patronage was Sentebale in Lesotho. This is evident that Africa has a big place in Prince Harry’s heart.
When Duchess Meghan married Duke of Sussex at Windsor Castle her wedding veil had wildflowers of the 53 countries of the Commonwealth. Meghan’s veil was a nod to her husband’s position as Commonwealth Youth Ambassador. Harry was pleased by the wonderful surprise because it showed that Duchess Meghan put their assignment center stage in their marriage and work.It reflected the importance of the Commonwealth in the lives of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Who can forget the debut of Archie Harrison on the global stage during the Sussex Tour to Southern Africa. The youngest royal to ever go on tour at just 4 months. Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor met one of the cultural icons of courage, Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Archbishop Tutu then blessed Archie.
When Archie grows up he will see these picture and know beyond a shadow of doubt that he has been blessed. Archie is blessed because of both his father and his mother’s legacy. Archie will grow up to know that his Dad Prince Harry did right by him which is why he is so blessed. He will know that his grandmother’ Doria’s unconditional love.
