“When I was asked to be a Counsellor at One Young World my response was a resounding ‘yes’. One Young World invites young adults from all over the world who are actively working to transform the socio-political landscape by being the greater good. They are Delegates who are speaking out against human rights violations, environmental crises, gender equality issues, discrimination and injustice. They are the change.”
– HRH The Duchess of Sussex
Looking forward to seeing Meghan, Duchess of Sussex this week at One Young World with change makers . Before she was royal Duchess Meghan was a global leader. Here she is with Canadian PM Justin Trudeau both speakers at the gathering of young leaders from 190+ countries who are #ForcesForChange making an impact
Meghan was assigned to one specific delegate, Luwam Estifanos, a young woman from the country of Eritrea, described as the North Korea of Africa – where she was a slave from the age of 16 until she ran to her freedom across the border just a few years ago; she now lives in Norway, where she works with a grass roots organization to end slavery in Eritrea, to free her friends who remain enslaved, and to bring attention on a global level to the injustice happening in her homeland.
The annual One Young World Summit convenes the brightest young talent from every country and sector, working to accelerate social impact. Delegates from 190+ countries are counselled by influential political, business and humanitarian leaders such as Justin Trudeau, Paul Polman and Meghan Markle, amongst many other global figures.
The former Meghan Markle was on a panel at One Young World in 2016. Here she is with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau both were speakers at the summit.
Her Royal Highness Meghan, Duchess of Sussex is a longstanding supporter of One Young World, having first joined as a Counsellor at the 2014 Summit in Dublin, addressing young leaders on the importance of women’s rights and the role men play in achieving equality. She also attended the 2016 Summit in Ottawa.
The Duchess is Vice-President of The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, which is partnering with One Young World this year to bring 53 young leaders from across the Commonwealth to attend the #OYW2019 Summit in London.
