New Strategy New Sussex Team

Joining a new organization is never easy. Joining an existing team can be stressful for both the new leader and the team members who will report to the new leader. When you happen to be an independent woman named Meghan Markle who ran her own media platform and a self-made millionaire with a global voice the stakes are higher and there is little room for error.

Whenever there is a change in leadership there will be change in strategy. New leadership means new vision means there has to be a change in the people who are executing the vision. Staff changes are a normal part of leadership changes. There is nothing jaw dropping about the staff turnover working for the Sussexes this is management 101. You cannot name a single organisation where this does not happen.

There are clickbait articles that seek to portray the Duke and Duchess as difficult to work for which cannot be further from the truth. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are transforming their court and focusing on Commonwealth and global issues. This means they need a global team that understands the world as it is and the world as it should be.

The Duke of Sussex has traveled the world and has done extensive work in Africa and the Caribbean having traveled the world. The Duchess of Sussex has a degree in International relations and worked for US embassy in Argentina. She is also fluent in Spanish and spent summers in Spain. She worked in Toronto and reading has traveled to all the continents in the world before she met the Duke of Sussex. Harry and Meghan share the same values and desire for change.

The Sussexes need a team that can embrace the change in vision with Duchess of Sussex on board. She is an American with that go getter attitude. She believes in being on her ‘A game’ and in the work ethic of excellence without excuse. Hollywood is a cut throat industry with fierce competition and she succeeded there she can succeed anywhere else. The former Meghan Markle worked at the UN as well. During her time with the UN she worked with best in class organizations such as Clinton Foundation, World Bank and the war room of UN Secretary General.

The spotlight on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has brought global influence which many at the palace are not used to and the rate of change can be stressful.

The palace is an archaic institution and the people who work there are not used to the global spotlight that comes with a Duchess Meghan and the global influence she had. The palace has been slow to react to the threats against Duchess of Sussex in the age of social media. This failure on the part of Kensington palace has been evident. It took them more than 800 days to do issue a statement condemning the acts of violence. The dogmas of the quiet stiff lipped past are inadequate for the social media present, they must think anew and act anew.

These are the organizations that the former Meghan Markle worked with and have only great things to say about her. Leaders with a proven track record of achievement have worked with Duchess of Sussex. These people have verifiable success and achievement and work in best of class organizations.

US Military USO Tour

The former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (the highest-ranking & senior-most military officer in the United States Armed Forces) traveled with the future Duchess of Sussex in 2014 on an USO Tour. Gen (R) Marty Dempsey described the former Meghan Markle as “genuine, kind, humble and compassionate” in his tweet congratulating Meghan & Harry on their marriage.

Meghan is a true humanitarian. We’re deeply grateful for her contribution as a global ambassador for World Vision over the past two years and for helping to raise awareness for the world’s most vulnerable children.

UN Women

Elizabeth Nyamayaro is a senior advisor to Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, the Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director UN Women.

Meghan shadowed Elizabeth; and Elizabeth mentored Meghan. Markle requested that she obtain “work experience” to understand how the UN works because

I don’t just want to show up somewhere and wave my hand and feel like that’s enough. If I’m going to have my name attached or if I’m going do it, I really get very hands-on

Speaking of Meghan Markle, Elizabeth had this to say:

“Her ability to listen, her passion for other people, wanting to create social change with that level of platform can only be a positive thing. She’ll be fine, she’ll be great in fact.”

“But Meghan is the real deal,” says Kate Robertson, co-founder of the charity One Young World.

She invited her to speak on a stage in Dublin after watching her in her hit TV series, Suits, and seeing her UN speech.

“When it came to the crunch, Meghan was so eloquent, so erudite

It wasn’t your average actress stepping up and talking about gender equality. It was the real deal – very forthright, very confident and very un-celebrity.

Kensington Palace:

“This person who we see coming in and out of Kensington Palace — and she meets people, she talks to them, she looks in their eyes, and she hugs them … this is the Meghan that I knew. This is not an act. This is not something that’s done for the camera. This is who she really, really is.”
