UK Newspapers failing: misreporting not worth printing

This is the worst of times with COVID-19 and the best of times with news of UK tabloids about to fold. Low subscription rates and low advertising revenue is leading to the possibility of these tabloids going out of business for good.

Tabloid Sun Failing

The reality is that UK tabloids do not practice real journalism but instead on gutter gossip and outright lies. The Sun has been sued due to unethical journalism resulting in lawsuits. This has resulted in $68M loss. At this point the Sun represents busyness rather than business.  British tabloids do not in fact add any value to real people so they will not be missed. They do not add anything of importance to free society so if they fold there will be nothing to miss.

Real journalists work with reputable newspapers because of their research and investigative skills that are important to our democracy.

What will replace UK tabloids/newspapers?

  • Grassroots media organizations and young, up-and-coming journalists.
  • Specialist media promoting cause-driven activities, widening the spectrum of news coverage.
  • Credible media outlets focused on objective news reporting to cover key moments and events.
  • Social media influencers with proven track record of fact checking and truth telling

Britain’s Royal Correspondents are regarded internationally as credible sources of both the work of members of The Royal Family as well as of their private lives. This misconception propels coverage that is often carried by other outlets around the world, amplifying frequent misreporting. So, they are polluting the world with their lies and threatening real journalism in emerging markets.

Regrettably, stories that may have been filed accurately by Royal Correspondents are, also, often edited or rewritten by media editorial teams to present false impressions. What tabloids do is to regurgitate gossip first reported by the Sun or Daily Mail. The reality is that the world needs less amplification of gossip and lies. Gossip and misreporting represent ideas not worth printing.

I dare say there are no credible people who believe in what these gutter British papers write unless they dwell in gutters themselves which is a pity.

The owners of these so-called newspapers, are super rich. The price of coffee means a lot to some people. They should fund their trash themselves.
