William’s Zero-Sum Thinking Destroyed Relationship with Prince Harry & Meghan

Sussex Power Couple

William and Prince Harry are two very different people. William is his father’s child, Harry very much Princess Diana’s child and the guardian of her legacy.

Prince William believes that there is only one leader, and that leader is him.  A century ago, the royals were the only leaders and the only influencers. Today of course times have changed. In Prince William’s traditional mindset there is still only one leader; and that is him.

William believes that life is a zero-sum game. He believes that if one person wins, another one has to lose. This is the reason he started the smear campaign after Harry and Meghan’s ultra-successful Oceania tour in 2018. Forbes reported that “Crowds of that size have not appeared for Queen Elizabeth on any of her trips to Australia (which date back as far as the 1950s), and Harry and ‘Megmania’ easily eclipses the enthusiasm with which William and Kate’s 2014 trip to Australia – even with crowd-pulling Prince George in tow,” – royal expert Tom Sykes.

William viewed Meghan and Harry’s success as a loss to him. It is this view that led the future King to launch a jihad against his own brother. In William’s world view the love and the respect and attention belong to him only. He believes no other royal should be adored by the public.  William focuses on competition rather than collaboration within the royal family. He incorrectly believed that if he worked with tabloids to smear the Sussexs somehow the public would believe tabloids and adore him.

In a long run, the British royals are not winning. William has ruined relationships with friends, family and now his brother. Harry’s success does not diminish his achievements. Harry and Meghan are very loyal to him, they just cannot be 50% of themselves. William is heir to a very wealthy dynasty, yet he has scarcity mentality.

Harry and Meghan on the other hand believe that everyone can be a leader. They believe that Leadership is a skill that can be developed in the right environment and with the right mentorship. Which is why their charity work is focused on empowering ordinary people. They are able to inspire people from different communities to achieve their goals. Examples of the Sussex work includes the Invictus games, and the Together cookbook championed by Meghan the Duchess of Sussex.

Harry and Meghan believe in coalition building and supporting communities. They are driven by purpose making impact. They bring value to the world whether working for the monarchy or serving humanity through their Archewell Foundation because service is universal.
