It is every restaurant owner’s dream to serve customers the best food prepared with quality ingredients. To create an experience so that patrons return and tell others about it. The Melba restaurant in Harlem welcomed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex Prince harry and his wife Meghan in Harlem, New York City. You would imagine the excitement around the Melba restaurant the moment these global philanthropists stepped into the restaurant. The visit is great advertising for Melba whose restaurant. Instantly Melba’s restaurant gained global recognition you cannot pay for that kind of publicity.

Meghan Markle has long been an advocate for entrepreneurs. The Duchess of Sussex is a global impact leader who uses her platform to promote inclusive entrepreneurship. No other royal has used their platform to champion designers and small businesses the way Meghan Markle the Duchess of Sussex has.

Melba Wilson, who was born and raised in Harlem, dreamed of opening a high-end restaurant in the area. She created an exceptional restaurant establishment. The Duke and Duchess made a $25,000 donation. The Sussex donation brought awareness for a variety of charities, including a $25000 donation to Melba Wilson restaurant employee fund.

The purpose of the fund is to assist employees and other restaurant workers, as well as individuals who are facing food insecurity, during this trying moment caused by corona virus.  The proceeds will go to hourly and salaried workers who have been financially harmed by the pandemic.

Women’s rights are secured by economic security. Profitable businesses create wealth, provide families with financial independence. The income from employment and businesses can fund women’s dreams and aspirations.

Entrepreneurship is the bedrock of the American economy. Small businesses employ more Americans than big corporations.

Meghan Markle paid a visit to Harlem’s PS 123 Mahalia Jackson School, where she read her first children’s book, The Bench, to pupils in second grade. The visit was intended to highlight the school’s initiatives and encourage young kids to read. The Duke and Duchess donated reading nooks in Graham Windham non-profit locations across the city to support families’ access to books.

Meghan and husband Harry also donated planters and gardening equipment for easier access to healthy food, Procter & Gamble items in the school’s pantry to help families take care of their personal health.

After the session with the kids, they stopped over at Melba Wilson’s restaurant in Harlem. Melba Wilson couldn’t hide her delight at being able to offer the Duke and Duchess of Sussex some of her restaurant’s distinctive dishes. Wilson recalls that the two ate “a bunch of my favourite items on the menu.” Eggnog waffles, spring rolls, and collard greens were among the food served to the couple.

Business ownership is a major vehicle that drives economic security. When it comes to women’s empowerment Meghan the Duchess of Sussex walks the walk. The Melba restaurant set up an employee fund to help persons affected by the pandemic raising $250,000 to provide financial relief to the dozens of hourly workers who were impacted at Melba’s during the pandemic.
