Many people  want to be believe that Meghan rose to prominence because of her relationship to UK’s Prince Harry; but nothing could be further from the truth. Duchess Meghan was a successful businesswoman in her own right.

Meghan Markle began her acting career with bigger dreams. It is evident that she used acting as a stepping stone to gain popularity and amplify causes that matter. Meghan obtained a  global voice through promoting the causes she cared about. She mentioned in her engagement interview that she was not giving up acting but starting a new chapter.

“With fame comes opportunity, but it also includes responsibility – to advocate and share, to focus less on glass slippers and more on pushing through glass ceilings. And, if I’m lucky enough, to inspire.”

Meghan Markle was a  global influencer with millions of followers  through her Lifestyle Blog  ‘The Tig’. On The TIG  she inspired millions to live their best lives and aspire to a higher level of living.

Meghan Markle was both tech and social media savvy. This  propelled her to the position of one of the most successful bloggers in the world. She shared her experiences  of perseverance, persistence in achieving goals. Meghan is a go- getter and despite of not having any name recognition she started to build her media empire from the ground up.

Meghan did not wait for someone to give her a column in one of the Conde Nast or Hearst or Vox Media publications before she could share her wisdom. Instead grabbed the bull by the horn and created her own platform and built her own tribe who shared similar passion and philosophies in the process.

Given Meghan’s popularity brands began to approach her about partnering with them on ‘the Tig’. Meghan turned down a lot of the offers  in order to retain creative rights and keep her voice as genuine as possible without sounding to commercial.

Ms. Markle had a pulse on the target audience who are millennials  who value authenticity over corporate branding. ‘The Tig’ was privately owned at its zenith was a multi-million dollar; brand raking in millions. We know this because similar lifestyle brands such as ‘Goop’ which inspired ‘The Tig is valued today at over $250 million dollars.

The Duchess of Sussex at the height of her pre-royal days was a brand ambassador for Ralph Lauren. Her work in the fashion world  brought Meghan into the orbit of the global Queen of Fashion Anna Wintour . For those who do not know Anna Wintour is the most important woman in Fashion. She  determines what style and color the whole world will wear during a given season. At the 2016 Wimbledon tournament Meghan sat next to queen the fashion queen. This was  proof that Meghan was becoming a power player in the billion dollar world of fashion.

Duchess Meghan appeared regularly on the US popular morning show the ‘Today Show’ in the US during her non royal days.  Meghan was a fashion expert lending her voice to the season’s  fashion trends and offering style tips. It is evident that Meghan was making a name for herself in the fashion industry but working from the ground up learning all the ropes. It is no wonder that every time that we see her she is polished and has a classic look.

Meghan’s ascension into the world of fashion culminated into the partnership with the century old Canadian brand Reitmans. Meghan Markle   revitalized the brand by launching her own fashion label with a Capsule Collection in 2015. At the first day of launch the collection was sold out and we can see why brands she wears continue to sell out.

Meghan Markle’s work on ‘The Tig’ opened the door to the United Nations partnering with her to promote UN Women’s Agenda as a UN ambassador and advocate for women in politics and leadership. In 2015 Meghan Markle shared the front row seat with Hillary Clinton former US Secretary of State & UN Secretary General Ban- Ki Moon. She addressed the United Nations in a speech that has been heard by millions of people worldwide and sealed her position as a global influencer .Meghan’s speech highlighted her work as a philanthropist  in US, Canada, India and Rwanda.
