#LeadershipMatters Sussexes are Leaders, William is a Manager

Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry are a power couple . Their marriage was heralded as the dawn of a new era in this old colonial institution. The lack of leadership at Buckingham palace harnessing Harry and Meghan’s star power led to jealousy against the Sussexes. The Machiavellian tactics by other members of the royal family made the house of Windsor a toxic environment.

To understand the difference between Prince Harry and his brother
Prince William, you must firstly understand the difference between
management and leadership. Prince William is a manager, the one who is supposed to maintain the status quo. Prince William ensures that tradition continues from generation to generation, keeping those colonial traditions in place. Its about following protocols and tradition.

Colonial traditions perpetuated and preserved by Prince William

Prince William represents the old colonial era; one of exclusion,
rather than the Sussexes who represent inclusion, diversity, and youth
leadership. The Sussexes understand that the monarchy must change in
order to survive. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex understand that the
world has changed and that there’s a need to reinvigorate what it
means to be royals in the 21st Century. The current British monarchy
is out of touch with millennials and this is the demographic that the
Sussexes bring to the monarchy.

On the other hand, you have Prince Harry, who is more of the leader.
Prince Harry is a leader who focuses on the future. For Prince Harry
monarchy can survive when it focuses on the future. Duchess Meghan heralded him part of the #ForcesForChange in Vogue September edition 2018. Prince Harry believes in change, which makes him a responsive and responsible leader.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are values-based leaders. They are
guided by a set of values and a sense of purpose. They understand that
the world is changing and has changed, and that they appeal to a
wider range of demographics and ages. Both Meghan and Harry represent
the possibility of a brighter future and inspire millions.

Millennials recognize the authentic leadership of the Harry and
Meghan. They represent values-based leadership guided by their own
beliefs and understand that the world is made up of complex systems.
The monarchy must reach different people in the Commonwealth. Sussex
Royal Foundation through their patronages promote collaboration and
team building.

Harry and Meghan represent monarchy that believes in coalition
building and supporting communities. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex
are driven by purpose and the need to make impact. They bring value to
the world whether working for the monarchy or serving humanity through
their Sussex Royal Foundation (which will be launched later this
year), it’s the British royal family’s loss and humanity’s gain. The
Sussex’s bring value which is demonstrated in their work with the
Invictus Games, Hubb Community Kitchen, Luminary Bakery, Smart Works,
Mayhew, Well Child charities and not to mention Sentebale.

Princess Harry and Duchess Meghan’s star power could have been used to reinforce brand Windsor for the ages.  Instead palace forces leaked information to the tabloids to undermine Harry and the former Meghan Markle in the hopes that this would make the other Windsors shine. What has happened is that Meghan Markle and Harry now command the highest following on Instagram more than the Queen, Prince Charles or William. Leadership is influence and in the digital age influence is more than hierarchy and there is a new world order.

The Sussex Royal Foundation will be a contrast to the old way. Meghan
and Harry’s progressive philanthropy represents brilliant leadership.
