Did you know Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, wrote a book in 8th grade titled, A Face without Freckles… Is a Night Without Stars. She extols the wonder of freckles with drawings and verse. Meghan submitted it to the @CopyrightOffice in 1996. Wow this young girl was always destined to take over the world with prose and poem. The book will be on exhibit this summer at the US Library of Congress. Congratulations Duchess, it would be nice to bring Archie and LiliDiana to see their Mama’s work.
Carla Hayden the Librarian of Congress recently posted a message on Twitter about the Duchess’s first book, which a young Meghan submitted to the US Copyright Office in 1996. In the book Meghan “praises the wonder of freckles with drawings and verse.” Archie and Lili Diana have big shoes to fill. Their mother was a high achiever even as a teenager.

In 2018, Meghan the businesswoman turned Princess came up with the idea of a cookbook which she worked on and wrote the forward. The book Together, a cookbook compiled recipes from survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire in London.
In the aftermath of the fire, several women came together at the Hubb Community Kitchen to share recipes, find community, and restore hope. Meghan became involved in the group, and the cookbook serves as a fundraiser for the kitchen. The book in pre-release sales has overtaken bestselling author JK Rawlings all the while raising funds for a worthy cause.
