Sussex Royal shows Leadership Means Having Influence

It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the one who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly…who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly.

The UK has a rigid system based on vertical hierarchy. There is one type of leader; whose power is derived from a title and position. An example is Prince William, who is second in line to the British throne and considered a leader by virtue of this position.

Prince Harry is not ever going to be king but he has global influence. In a recent You.Gov poll in August 2019 Prince Harry is the 2nd most popular member of the Royal family, behind the Queen. The other heirs are less popular contrary to what white supremacist and Nazi advocator Nigel Farage says.

 The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not influential just because they are beautiful, glamorous or have adorable Archie. The world is intrigued by their impact. Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are known for their action oriented approach to humanitarian causes.  They are respected for the global impact of their work on communities.

The Invictus Games are a testament to the compassion Duke Harry. The games give a second chance to wounded soldiers who defended their country’s freedom. The games gave injured warriors a golden opportunity to use sports as part of the recovery. This is Prince Harry’s legacy.

Politicians and other royals visited Grenfell leaving thoughts and prayers and endless empty promises. When the Duchess of Sussex first visited the Grenfell community she was moved by compassion to help the women rebuild their community. Duchess Meghan used her platform and influence to breathe new life into this community that had been forgotten.

The ‘Together Cookbook’ sold 130,000 copies raising £557,638. The kitchen is opened 7 days a week from 2 days, 365 days a year. The Duchess of Sussex inspired the housewives; giving them artistic license to create a cookbook from recipes passed down through the generations.

On one day the women were victims of a devastating fire then Amazon bestselling authors the next. The transformation can be attributed to the Duchess of Sussex empowering the women and giving them hope. Her optimism is contagious and the women began to believe that they had something of value to contribute to the world.

Funds from the cookbook revamped the kitchen. The impact of the proceeds mean 300 are fed in a day. 109,500 meals are prepared for the London community and distributed to homeless; shelters for abused women and senior citizens shelters in a year.
